Unaware

You walk beside me, but you hardly notice,
Notice the intensity and fear in my eyes,
You walk on, Unaware.
Pain overtaking the love I have for you,
I ask if we can talk you shrug you shoulders and reply,
"Later."
You make promise after broken promise,
Trying to cover the secrets that you hide from me.
Looking through the smokescreen you have cast,
I see with my eyes, and disregard my heart.
Love no longer fills the hazel of your eyes,
No, your eyes are empty now....cold,
You just say "everything's fine."
I try to talk to you, but you never have the time,
You're never home anymore,
Our love seems to be dwindling.....dying,
But I don't want it that way,
My heart loves you, and everything we've been through,
I try so hard to grasp the love we have,
But slowly......
Ever so slowly you and our love slips through my fingers.
Yet, I still try to hold on,
Try to talk to you,
When we kiss there's no longer the love I felt before,
I promised myself that this wouldn't happen,
But it has, and there's nothing I can do about it.
Gently you fall through the cracks in my fingers,
I watch you as you fall, further and further away,
I watch you fall,
And yet you're still,
Unaware.
