what we have

love is a steady diet
of never the same thing twice
because the taste buds of my heart
are older than they were yesterday
love is the sharpest knife
and the toughest nut to crack
the insoluble mystery that
left the key to itself right under our noses
love is what I once felt
and what I have never felt
all things and nothing at all
as if calling something love
could contain any truth for us
or all the meaning in the universe
I may not know a lot about it
