Look past the floor that needs vacuuming..
And my unpressed shirt
Never hear the impatience with my children
That shames me
Ignore the passing of time on my face
And the unopened mail
Forgive a sharp tongue
When the pace leaves me breathless
Fail to notice the strings
In my one-woman's puppet show

See only that my tired eyes still smile
and my calloused hands fit well in yours
Let my flamed tresses
Hide the weight my shoulders bear
Know my rough edges will never bruise you
When I sleep soft in your arms
Observe my battles, but let me fight
Be proud of this warrior
Your wild Irish rose
Who dances with you at dawn
