SCENE 15

SCENE 15- EXT.- Night. 
Derek and Becca are laying
on their backs on a blanket
they bought in Acuna in the
bed of Becca's truck.
Music: "Wishing You Were Here"
by Chicago.
Becca: I've never noticed that
little cluster of stars before.
What is that called?
Derek: I don't know astronomy.
I know the Big Dipper and the
Little Dipper, but that's it.
Becca: Don't be such a namedropper.
Derek: What?
(Becca laughs)
Derek: You're crazy, girl.
Becca: Give it a name.
Derek: Okay. I dub this heretofore
unnoticed cluster of stars Becca's
Giggle. How's that?
Becca: That's perfect! Oh, my gosh.
I'm going to start crying.
Derek: Don't cry.
Becca: Now I need to find some stars
to name for you.
Derek: You've got quite a few to
choose from. Take your pick.
Becca: Do you see any that appeal
to you? Any that speak to your soul
and say,"Derek, we're here for you,
darlin'. Make a wish on us and we'll
try our darndest to make it come
true."
Derek: I like that one. That bright
one up there by itself.
Becca: Derek, that's Venus!
Derek: The planet? But it looks just
like a star!
Becca: What else would it look like
without a telescope? Pick another
one. You can't wish on Venus.
Derek: But it's my favorite.
Becca: You can't wish on a 
planet! That's unheard of!
Derek: But since I like to live
on the edge, I say let's pretend
it's a star and give it a new
name.
Becca: Okay. From now on, it's
no longer a planet. It's no longer
Venus. It is now...a star. A star
named Derek's Stubborn Refusal to
Conform and Make Any Kind of Sense
at All.
Derek: And now for the obligatory
Oh, Gee! I Like You a Lot kiss.
(Becca laughs)
(and they kiss!)
