suspended
you stole my senses
as you came to me in the wind
touching my skin and cooling me
while my eyes closed and waited
for your breath to touch me
again
you stole my thirst
when you came in the rain
while you waited for me to walk
into your falling drops
and your hands touched me from distances
that crossed borders
that life doesn't begin
to understand in simple words
i wondered how i could possibly ache
so much in a single moment without
splitting apart and becoming an airborn
creature, taking off into flight
because this being grounded wasn't working
and the part that was you
felt a yearning to fly free and above
the world
if you could feel me crossing distances
from the length of my heart to yours
could you hear me when i cried out to you
in the night when my body wasn't next to yours
when you weren't in me
i saw clearly
i saw you
i dreamt you before we were here and stood on this
ground we can call ours in these moments when
our words fly between us in slow motion
and lay suspended before our mouths
i danced around you while those words waited
and gave you myself
