L.A. is your shadow

Rain on me
drizzle
like the hopscotch
that cha cha-ed
down my back
listlessly
we split like
we never get enough midnight air
down my back
you were up after me
smoking newports out my screen door
legs like nestle's quick
your black hair shuffling across my face you whispered
"get up"
"get up"
so I did.
I sat hands folded on the steps
in my dirty bra
and your converse shoes
the fan humming from inside
your tee-shirt barly reaching your knees
above, the sky looked like
it had vomited
so blue
you lit my cigarette
said I was your favorite girl
as we fell asleep
sticky
hot
on the pavement steps
