Echo

your words rise from subterranean depths
twine themselves as garlands in my hair
we lie in white sand reflecting light
our hallowed ground wrapped in reverent footsteps

look out at the luminous expanse
shade each other's eyes
remnants of seaweed wash up in
the relics of change

my hand finds the echo of
an oval pebble perfectly
shaped by the sea its
warmth lingers on my skin like
your parting kiss
