The Lesser of Two Evils

Swimming thoughts muddle my mind.
Denial is the only escape.
Great affection for one,
intense love for another.
Possibilities
Deadends
Electrifying glances and 
Stolen private moments.
Self-Imposed enclosure to 
wide open spaces yearning to be explored.
Yet neither will admit
Both struggling with dark, hurtful pasts.
Will this be the connection?
And who will be the first at the plate?
The choice is clear but even so, 
my heart shatters and 
my eyes cloud just to think of it.
Such untamed desire 
tugging at weak, vulnerable strings
Who will be first.....
The brave one to dive headfirst into uncharted waters
Regardless of consequences
