Heartsong

The human heart can be filled with frailty
And fear
When I find myself hidden
And crowded into the smallest corner
By loneliness
And the Ghosts of a battered past

But when you added a Love
That I cannot fathom
Let alone begin to understand.
The lingering demons were exorcized
And loneliness is fading from the vocabulary
Of a heart resurrected by you.

Pain is a memory
     Love is real
Loneliness is temporary
     Love is permanent
Fear is fleeting
     Love is my guardian now
Frailty is but an illusion
With the strength of another’s heartsong.
