You Make It Okay

Growth occurs now as it once did;
in fits and spurts of painful self-realization
that matters of the heart, like matters of the body,
will not be denied by a mind grown wary and weary of the present,
where circumstances have conspired to deconstruct
twenty years worth of misaligned foundational cornerstones,
effectively rendering a tired heart structurally unstable
and threatening to let it slide into that blissfully murky abyss
called true love;
I can only place blame on the torrent of 'I love you's'
that effectively eroded the matrix of my ego, because when you
took me to your bed and touched me, I knew then every single one was true
and that realization mastered the very last lingering doubt this is
real and true and good and maybe, just maybe
forever.
Baby you make it all okay.
