Occupied
I want to listen intently to every word you say.
Soak up, drink in, absorb you, who you are.
Balancing on the brink of sleep, my thoughts turn not to the comfort of my downy pillow
and the gentle sinking into the abyss of dreams,
but to stay awake, and tend to nothing but you, and stay with you,
so I don't miss a moment of us.
But when I finally succumb to the twisting shapes of my night thoughts,
you are there, and delighted I'm to be with you again.
The shape of a dream, is second to having you near me as I sleep,
but happiness washes over me like warm sun
as I see you again.
