Band'Aids

Excuse me! Do you have a band-aid?
I seem to have broken my heart
Hopefully it can still be saved
It was fragile from the start

It's my own fault and that I know
And I can't just find another
I let it out in the open to roam
And with a new heart it joined together

Now of course I wanted only the best
For that beating beauty of mine
And when I had to return it to my chest
The two were still entwined

So the other hearts owner looked at me
With a look of love in his eyes
I knew it was going to hurt badly
And it would for a very long time

So we slowly pulled the two apart
Though they clung with love and care
That is when the two were broke
And now must be repaired

So an ouch-free band-aid if you please
It hurts so very much less
When I strip the bandages to set it free
And let it roam again with the rest
