Perfect

I saw you there,
perfect
in the rain
your heart hadn't borne the unbidden pains
of one whose wisdom were,
if more deep,
harsher.

The drops that drenched your meager form
were lifeless
and pristine somehow,
as if they weren't the ones to
soak you to the
bone.

The pure and simple truth in your form
the beauty of your step
as you walked
toward my door
like a phantom in the night,
bound to your own
destiny.

Approaching, you were shy
it made me smile, such a boy as you
and such a girl as me
it made me wistful, as of one who makes her wishes
on a star
and sees it drop proudly from the sky.

Opening the door, your eyes were stars
like the gems on which
so many dreams were placed.
simple and eager, raindrops on your skin raced me
to be the first to touch your lips --
i won.

I saw you there,
gleaming wet in the moonlight,
shy and simply sweet,
smiling in faith of me,
as you stood in the rain,
perfect.
