Is There Anyone Out There?
The daylight has long left me behind
The lights of neighborhood homes are dark
Most of the people are now sound asleep
And the only sounds heard are radio love songs
I lay alone on my bed with the lights off
It is at this time I am the most tortured
With tears flowing down my cheeks
I call into the night, "Is there anyone out there?"
Is there anyone who has looked for someone?
But only to find, there is no one
Do questions of doubt pass through the mind?
Maybe love just wasn`t meant for some
Maybe the pursued does not know of the pursuit
How does one tell another how one feels?
These questions and more, endlessly, tumble by
And again the call goes out, "Is there anyone
out there?"
This thing called love remains a mystery
For there are different types and levels of love
The golddigger love that only wants things
The "I love you (for your body)" type of love
The friend, brother, sister, and acquaintance love
The head-over-heels, at first glance, and puppy love
Then there is the kind of love I desire
A love that shares the good and bad times
In storms, one that stands fast through it all
Though it may start as romantic, it develops into
lasting love
A kind that brings not just bodies close
But unites body, soul, and spirit together
A truthful, caring, tender, and yet sometimes
stubborn love
To the love I seek I call, "Is there anyone
out there?"
