There is the Aching

There is the aching
that comes from too much throbbing
too much friction
too much
too soon
and spooning is no consolation
when the act itself was not enough
when you are as close as two human beings can be
and still there it is
alienation
made more awful
because you aren't alone
too, there is the aching
in the hollow center
of knowing
you will never be enough
because you are trying too hard to achieve
what is effortlessly achieved alone
with the aid of fantasy
and deft fingers
and a little concentration
then there is the aching
of wanting it to be different
this time
because finally you have found
someone who means it
when they call it
making love
and consumation
has never seemed
like a better idea...
