He Skims

He skims the surface of you
trims the edges until you fit just right
in the frame someone gave him as a Christmas gift
because he was always hard to buy for
He dabbles in you
travels to you and sleeps through
the ecstasy and blames it on jet lag

...you know I never skimmed. I scuba dove.
And I loved your edges and didn't bother with
a frame...I taped your picture as it was to my fridge
for all the honest world to see.
I majored in you
and you were never a weekend getaway to Rome
you were Home Sweet Home
the familiar scents and tastes and sounds
and sights and touches I never wanted to leave.
