Spying
Do you ever want to give it another try?
Well I mean,
I just remember how special you always made me feel
It was so great to see you walk in the room
And you’d give me that look that I knew was mine
And only mine.
You’d sit down across the way
And neatly get all of your supplies out,
All of your colored pencils
You always had to get up to sharpen them.
It used to make me laugh when I heard the chair
Squeak across the cement floor
I never had to look and I knew it was you.
I’d wait until I heard the sharpener going
To look up and spy on you and see how you were doing
And my head went down the second you took the pencil out
I knew that was your time to spy at me
And I’d listen to your footsteps
And waited until I heard you move you chair to peek again
This was our time to catch each other spying.
