we are stars in the
same corner of the sky
speaking the same wavelengths
whispering light to a world
filled with the color of dark
and people afraid of its portents
yet to us
is a veil behind which
we can become our truest selves
never forced to reveal
the fire that makes us
the stars that we are
for each other
