Summer
Summer!
It’s finally here.
The hot air is more
of a slap than a caress
on sunburned skin.
Memories of summers past
TWIRL,
SWIRL,
MADLY DASH
through a mind
driven out of control.
Bonfires,
Lap dances,
Skipping naked through the woods
On a warm summer’s eve.
Stars
Downpours
Sleeping in tents sheltered
By leafy sentinels.
TOUCHING
TEASING
DANCING
Bodies reaching for each other,
rationality displaced by lust.
Golden skies streaked with
pinks, oranges, purples
Bruised hearts, broken egos
one night stands that make
up for it all, especially when
they last longer than one night.
So many parties, and so little time.
I’m growing up, but I’m not dead yet,
and the final dance is yet to come,
But SUMMER!! is here again.
