Tuesday

Tuesday you left
Never saw your plane take off into spun sugar clouds
When I thought of you
I’d have a drink
Or three
The week was spent
Waking up groggy
Empty
I filled it
(I thought)
With Latin short stories and Chinese movies
I do have a job, you know
And a mother and friends and a toothache and a front left blinker that needs repair
My thoughts were on Monday
Your return
So it’s Tuesday again
You may as well still be on that plane
