Writing Your Name Over and Over...

As if I could summons you with magic voodoo black ink
scribbling your name in cursive over and over
on the back of paycheck stubs
during work hours.
Call to hear your voice and ask questions I already know
the answers to and hang up with a grin
although all you said was goodbye.
Poems and emails and phone calls
about you never to you but every pen stroke
is still an imagined caress
an unspoken prayer that wherever you are my name is on your mind
with hearts around it.
