supplicants with hearts
that have been broken
and built back up again
we are not the children of
a lesser god, for in loving
we become one with the
heart of Love itself
not an act of worship
spectating from a distant pew
but as actors
participants in what heals
and makes us worthy
of ourselves again
of being loved each day
more, even if just a little,
than the last
passion's promise grown to
mighty oaks though we
sometimes cannot see past
the one unhealthy tree
in the entire forest
