I never expected
to ever want

because though I understand a bit
about electrical engineering
AC and DC
I don't swing both ways
Strictly 5 DC volts or less here.

But I want
to love a man
I don't know
if I will ever meet
maybe not ever
but that's ok
I'm good enough
I'm smart enough
(not as smart as some of the people here sometimes
and about love
I'm a total idiot fool)
but gosh darn it
people like me
and people
who know me
love me
and people
who no longer know me
though they know enough
love my memory
love it very much

anyway
I want
to love a man
I didn't expect this to ever happen
to want

because this man
loves
someone
I love
not better than me
no more than me
it's not comparison
it's good enough for her
which is exactly the right amount
no more
no less
and there is no longer
her
but them

them

take care of her
take care of you both
because it's not her anymore

not we.
take care of you.
two
people.
one
marriage.
one "We"
that doesn't include
me.
that I want to love.
Desperately.
Because
it's only love after all

Sing her to sleep.
Kiss her goodnight.
