Like the flames of the bonfire
Throwing out heat
Shannon sways
and she is hot
from the heat of the fire
and I am hot
under the collar
watching her

like a wildflower
caressed by a capricious breeze
like a wildfire
consuming a dry forest

moving in time
to the slow beat
and I am moving
around the fire
to dance with her

and I am dancing
close to her

to try to impress her

and I'm feeling too close
afraid of getting burnt
so I'm moving over
to get some space

blowing towards me
ducking under the edges

not from alcohol -- drunken master style
with embers rising into my eyes

and I almost catch my hair on fire
the first inch of my bangs
feels a little crispy

and I slide over to talk to my friends
to catch my breath
because both the bonfire
and the woman
can burn me
