I held fire in my hands, Bedazzled by its glow I felt only its warmth on my face. I held you in my heart, Never quite daring to behold your soul--in daylight-- I dreamed you, breathed you, became you In the cloak of night. I held caution in my mind, Determined to hold back that tide And keep my world aligned. Reasoning to myself supposed success. Oh why then, Beloved, do I now notice My hands are burned?
