Why Do I Cry When We Say Good-Bye?
(For Marie)
Why do I cry when we say "good-bye"
I don't quite know
I'm not always one to cry
I usually don't get emotional
You see when I leave
all that I can think of
is how much you mean to me
and of you never-ending love
It is then that I realize
just what I'm going to miss
Not just your touch, your beautiful eyes
not only your kiss
It's everything, your emotions
the warmth of your embrace
your tender love and devotion
and when we kiss, how my heart does race
I will cry myself to sleep tonight
my dreams might bring me relief
in them I kiss you and hold you tight
but with the morning returns my grief
I sit and stare at the wall in a trance
All I can see is your face
Quickly in the other direction I glance
and you are gone without a trace
I wish this was faked
I'm here, you're there
It's too much for me to take
It's too much for me to bare
Only of you can I think
I can't seem to eat, not a thing
I can't seem to sleep, not a wink
It'll be like this all spring
I really hate this place
I wish time would fly
I long for nothing but you embrace
and that is why...
I cry when we say good-bye
