Carpe Darling

Seize the day,
Seize the moment---
Seize you by the scruff of your neck,
and haul you in for the sort of kiss
that could smelt solder,
shape glass,
and contact weld
softer metals.

Oh, I am not kidding,
no messing around,
no eyes modest
to the ground,
wimpy Lois Lane kind of love
that waits to be rescued
from the bad guy---
No sir.

I am here to tell you
the eagle has landed,
and if you're looking
for some parasol toting
bit of feminine fluff,
just like the girl
who married dear old dad,
brother you're in the wrong neighborhood---
the exit ramp is that way.

This woman will grab you,
kiss you hard,
dance left and right
and make you hear the music
in her head, soul, and loins...
and she won't ask for mercy,
or quarter, or revenge,
won't take out the sins
of every last bastard
she'd ever known on you,
because frankly
she doesn't have the time
to eat a re-heated past.

This isn't just a relationship---
this is an adventure,
and there are no hitchers on this trail.
So sign on, hold tight
and forget about flight insurance bub---
I fly this run
without promises
guarantees
or parachutes.
Seat belts won't do much good
if we crash and burn---
if my arms can't hold you
than nothing much will.

Enjoy your flight.
Pack light.
And the faint hearted
never even got off the ground.
I love you---
but that is all you get
until I've looped this sucker
and tested your mettle.

Ever wonder why they call it a cockpit?
