The Final Approach
soft as silk, the motions,
she walks one foot at a time,
discouraged by the notion of a lifetime's lonely nights
the news was all to blunt
like cold water thrown in your eyes
still the memory plaques her
as would, when someone so close dies
a black veil covers....and lace
she's not had her chance for goodbyes
there's strength in her stone face
the tears well up......then cries
a step away from him
the final approach realized
"till death" came before
she fully grasped her life
as he walked away at peace
she would silently remain
hands clasped, eyes closed, she would feel no pain
