Star Route
there are 1500 miles between us
and plenty of baggage
it took us 27 years to find each other
circumstances and other people
got in the way
but the stars are kind
our routes got tangled up
we connected
in the cosmic way I always dreamed of
and wished for
when crying alone in the dark
or screaming my futility at people
who haven't even felt yet
we feel
and we know
we don't take
I Love You
or x's and o's
for granted
we have earned our ebullience
it isn't empty
we have tasted the bitterness
of Dead Sea fruits
and when we reunite in the flesh
(yes, REUNITE, for we have already united)
it will be enough
to look into your eyes
and caress your face
we don't need Paris
we don't need Hawaii
or Las Vegas
or even Acuna
there in a crowded airport
be it DFW or JFK
we will have all the glamor and rapture
we need
in our long overdue
