Inevitable
You speak of looking into my eyes
so casually brush the hair from my face,
and cup my chin
to raise my gaze to your own,
while I fight the desire
to lose myself in your look--
I know that there is something there
that is mine alone,
and know that when you touch me,
I will sink into you
touch your soul
with trembling fingertips
and be transformed
for once and all.
This is where the fear lies---
Can I bear to be this new creature,
gently flexing gossamer wings
to dry them for flight---
when I feel the warmth,
the heat of you
coaxing
drawing
seducing me
into a free form glide
that begins and ends in your arms?
