Tried And Truth.........
A woman isn't a wallet.
A man isn't a car.
If your wallet is stolen,
and returned empty,
you don't feel betrayed
by the leather or nylon.
If your car is lifted
and comes back dented
but running,
you don't blame it for the dings.
You fill the wallet again,
and get on with your life,
you drive the car
because it didn't betray you---
no one asks the auto for permission
in a joy ride.
But trust doesn't come simple
to a heart held together
by tape, glue, staples
and oh yes, love
and just a touch of hope.
Trust becomes something
you earn with miles,
or hours
or the number of times
I turned to you,
and you were there.
So when we speak of trust,
tell me,
are we talking the same language?
