Can I Come Out Yet?
You were flaming a bit
the last time I came near,
so I retreated to a cool cave
to quench the flaming mess
of my tail feathers.
Yes, you were angry,
and so was I
but neither of us are perfect dear,
and I still love you.
Life intrudes
more than a little
and sometimes with a dozen voices
screaming in your ear,
it's possible to miss the quiet ones.
You mistake my silence
for uncaring
when it was just a moment
to give us both room
enough to let those last words settle,
so they can be forgotten.
If I seemed too caught up
in this mess that passes for life,
i ask you to forgive me, little sister.
Now can we park the dragon,
have a cuppa
and remember that life is too damned short,
and dear ones are too damned precious
to lose even a single one?
Besides...I just heard the most delicious tidbit...
