Illuminata
You bring calm, and tranquility
and set my heart to glowing
with a few words,
and the grace of your smile
gifting me gently,
lifting my spirit
and now this is becoming
my natural state
becoming who I am
and how I am
and frantic
restless
harried------
are not even words to me.
You will say that this was all inside me,
that you had no part of this transfiguration,
but you would be wrong---
because it began with your touch.
You took a wounded spirit
bathed it with love,
warmed it with gentle regard
and held it close and dear
until the shaking stopped
until the urge to hurt myself
before someone else could
dissolved into a faint echo
and I began to hear
the glorious music
of my own heart
when it beat in countermeasure
to the soft sound of yours.
No wonder that the poets
have wriggled
struggled
and sworn for centuries
to give voice to this state,
when a complete person
becomes somehow more complete
when a heart knows it's name,
it's voice
and oh yes my dear one
it's destiny
in the rainbow light
of all that you have given me
when you called me love.
