East and West
I hail from the East and she belongs to the West,
One rare moment, our eyes met,
Feelings were born and we became more than friends,
I see her often chatting with friends,
On diverse topics as politics to the Ten Commandments
Cultural difference is posing a real problem,
I maintain my distance so that people do not think otherwise,
I don’t want strangers to talk bad about her,
She thinks that I am aloof and do not care,
The worse happened when she was facing a crisis,
And I could hardly talk with her friends around
Always giving more importance in protecting her image,
I ended up being known as a friend with no feelings,
She wrote that I should have talked to her more,
Been there for her, she used words like I bailed out,
It was not like I was asked to get into a train that had no brakes,
Or into a plane that would never land and I decided to not get into it.
It was a matter of bad timing is all I can say,
I would any day be ready to give her all my happiness,
I know she wrote in extreme grief and nothing but misery,
And soon when she comes back to her usual self,
She would realise that love and friendship,
Do not understand cultural or regional boundaries.
