Will We?
Will we know what real love is like?
Or live apart,
watching love's lightning strike
others but not our hearts?
Will we feel the inner peace
married lovers know
will never cease
as they feel it grow?
Will we again each other hold
as in our only dance
when we were bold?
Have we missed our chance?
Will we taste our gentle kiss?
Is it wrong to hope
for something as pure as this?
Must we just live and cope?
We can share our sunrises,
face together each new dawn,
make the most of life's surprises
hand in hand as we journey on.
We can lift each other higher
through all eternity,
our love an ever burning fire,
if you say yes and marry me.
