Wedding Photographer
You asked me to be your wedding photographer.
I declined.
You asked why.
I could not tell you.
You asked me to reconsider.
I would not.
You pleaded to know why.
I told you that I did not plan to be at your wedding at all.
Again, you asked why.
I can’t say, I told you.
Please tell me, you begged.
Tears started to fill my eyes.
You asked me what was wrong.
-Silence-
I looked you in the eyes.
Tears rolled down my face.
I began to tell you…
That I was in love with you.
That my heart was breaking.
That I wished you the best.
That I could not watch you promise your life to another.
I looked at you through my tears.
You were crying.
You asked why I didn’t tell you sooner.
I told you I didn’t know how.
You looked in my eyes a while longer.
Then you stood… and left.
Two weeks later I received a card in the mail.
One the front was a picture of us as children.
Inside, four words.
“I Love You, Too.”
That same day as I opened the newspaper I saw your face…
And that of your new bride.
That was the last time I saw you.
