Dream Catcher

You hang over me in sleep,
a delicate lattice
to trap the hurtful things
that come with dreams.
You have made it your duty
to smooth the cares
from my face
when I am defenseless,
walking the cloud world
and seeking answers
of the gods.
I feel you there,
silent
watchful
tender
in sweet regard.
You are there,
ready to catch me,
and carry me
to a place of safety
arms soft around me,
whispering sweet fodder
to feed the dreams
and every word
feels like "i love you".
I turn toward you,
hand reaching unawares
spirit caught
halfway between this world
and the next---
but it does not matter.
The knowledge
that you spin silently above me
will bring me back safely
when the sun chases the moon
and the stars fade softly
to the dawn sky.
Lover.
Dream Catcher.
Mine.
