Is there a BIG picture?

I was thinking about life the other day
wondering what my role was to play out
in this mystical magical wonderful world
but none came to me

so I was wondering, what if my purpose in life
is to help the old lady across the street,
or fall madly in love with my best friend,
Maybe it's risking my own life for another,
maybe it's to save an animal,
maybe the roles in life aren't large at all
--maybe--there's no BIG picture,,just small roles
...the small things,,,that we do for one another
that make all the difference

Example..
If I never helped you across the road,,maybe you would
have been killed and run over
and your family would grieve
maybe they didn't have enough money for you buriel
and they went into financial trouble
and the man/woman who ran the financial company
might feel bad about it, but it's their job
and so they get an ulcer,
and live life miserable


maybe it's all the small tiny matters in life that
intertwine,,not making a big picture,,,
but an ever moving sea of fate and human progress
towards the unending goal of life and death.

AND who's to say that even if there was a big picture,,,
AND you knew what it was,,,,would you wanna know?

I wouldn't.
