Longing for More

I ask him if he ever read any poetry.
He said, 'Do I look like I shave under my arm pits?'
'Well, no.' I say, 'But you just have to hear this.'
'If you want,' He grins.
So I read my poem and he looks at me and says,
'That's nice, but is that it? Where's the ending?'
'It's a poem about longing, and that's the way it ends.
You make the person who's reading it long for more.'
'Oh,' he laughs 'When you finish that one, you can read it to me again,'
