Look In My Eyes
What could a lost heart say
That would seem new to this world
Telling the secret of a hurt soul
Communicate so deep a love, hidden, never unfurled
What could these stammering lips utter
To reveal such deep black depth of pain
Without turning you away in revulsion
Fleeing my love, my devotion with disdain
What could these trembling hands endeavor to build
That would stand the storm of doubt, of fear
That rages in the center of my very being
Subsiding only when you are tight in my arms, heartbeat near.
Truth is...my eyes could say it all
If you'll gaze there long and deep and clear
Unfaltering in courage as my arms hold you tight
Where our souls may touch, in love and wonder, without fear
And then forever would seem too short
