By sadness on a swing
Date: 10 September 2000

Last time she was alive

They sat on the wooden swing and began to push themselves back and forth. .The sun shone down upon them as they looked out at the water. Her head lay in his lap as he caressed her long blonde hair. She looked into his eyes and he kissed her tenderly. The kiss was the same. It was as if they had never broken up.They walked hand in hand by the water and marveled at the colors of the setting sun.The tears glistened upon her face. He could not ask her why she was crying. He knew why.
"don't go" she said as she tried to hide the tears that continued to fall.
"I have to"; he said in a quiet voice. "It is getting late."
They looked out again at the setting sun as they walked hand in hand to the car..
Never would either one of them feel such happiness again.

She drove him to the train station and kissed him goodbye. This time it was his tears that would not end. As the doors closed she watched as he and her heart left her forever. That was to be the last time that they would ever be together again.
She returned to that swing a year later. The water was as blue as it was on that day. There was a slight breeze and a beautiful sunset. But nothing would ever be the same for her again. He had left and with him had gone the best part of her. What was left of her was a shell of her former self. And All that remains on that swing is their sadness.
