Whisper To The Goddess

I went to the temple of the Ka,
breathed the perfume
sought the visions
and opened my soul
to what the gods might send,
knowing all the while
I was ready to trade
my next life
to ease you,
gentle your spirit
balm the heart
I hold so dear.
Do not shame my gift
by asking why--------
rational thought
cannot trade with love,
they speak different tongues,
seek different ends
and will never walk together
on this plane.
You are worthy in my eyes
in my heart---
and the weight laid on your shoulders,
the pathos of your mind
the blame you wrap yourself in,
heaping ashes on your head---
those will pass,
but my love for you?
Ordained by the gods,
planted in me with my first breath
and perennial as the changing seasons.
Why?
Because you are the part of my soul
that knows the why of my laughter,
the how of my joy,
and the truest depth of my spirit.
I need nothing more---
just you.
I am the fool of the gods---
but never of love.
