"" CONTRAST ""

CONTRAST

God has not promised skies always blue,
Nor flower-strewn pathways all our lives through.

If we do not suffer, or bear under pain,
We’ll never distinguish the sun from the rain.

To grieve under loss,  or hurt from lifes season,
Will give us the chance to learn and to reason.

Tasting the sweet,  but also the bitter,
Gives us a contrast,  that we must consider.

It may be God’s way,  to help us to see,
How fortunate and blessed,  someday we may be.

He won’t shelter us,  from the heartaches of life,
Because we must learn, from the hurts and the strife.

To truly be grateful,  when joy comes along,
When the harvest is plenty, and our hearts fill with song.

We only can ask him,  at the end of each day,
For strength to endure,  as the pains come our way.

So never give out,  nor grieve in great measure,
For you will receive,  much joy filled with pleasure.
