Sleepwalker

For the last two nights
at midnight,
I’ve gotten out of bed,
called the same
number my parents have
had for over 40 years.
My mother answers,
weeping I tell her,
'Go back to sleep,
I’m ok.'
Today, I called mother
at noon, told her all
about you. I was crying
then too, only this time
it wasn’t midnight.
I wasn’t sleepwalking.
