Scene 51
INT.-Psychiatrist's lobby-Day
Shelli is sitting in a chair flipping through an *Entertainment
Weekly* magazine. There's a young scrawny man with a goatee and
multiple tattoos sitting in a chair nearby. He's watching Shelli
intently. Shelli glances at him and shakes her head. Looks back at
the magazine. Looks up to see he's still staring at her.
Shelli: It would make me really happy if you would stop staring at
me.
Guy: In that case, why are you here? I mean, if your happiness is
contingent on my staring at you, then you don't need therapy or
medication. Okay. I'm not staring at you. Go home, you're cured.
Shelli: Let me guess: schizophrenic?
Guy: Bipolar. Right now I'm feeling kind of manic. I'd love to take
you out for ice-cream.
The psychiatrist, Veronica Whitlow, appears in the lobby. She's tall
and curvaceous. Has long dark hair and a warm smile.
Dr. Whitlow: Shelli Patterson? Hello, I'm Dr. Whitlow.
Shelli stands up and puts the magazine down. Shakes Dr. Whitlow's
hand.
Shelli: It's good to meet you.
