GUILLOTINE

GUILLOTINE

I put you on the guillotine, several  years ago.
When you tore my heart apart, and you hurt me so.

My tears were what you showered in,  the water that you bathed
My fears were what you played upon,  the drama that you craved

You played mind games that tore me up, and left me all in pieces
Satisfied to drive me mad, treating me like feces

Once addicted to your love, your romantic passionate style
I lived to hear you voice each day,  to see your candid smile.

Enslaved by your faithfulness, you wanted only me
My kiss was all that you adored, Twas me you’d only see.

Disappearing acts ensued, each time that you would drink
Pretending It was someone else, You tried to make me think

Years went by and I soon learned, it all to be a game
Drowning in your alcohol, addiction was to blame

As easy and forgiving, as I have always been
Enduring the abuse you gave,  death was soon to win.

My feelings for you darling,  have all returned to dust
The shining metal sparkle dear, has been reduced to rust

Though you still come near to me, in each and every way
I know that it is all a game, and you will never stay.

My heart is well sealed off to you,  my walls are firm in place
My eyes are blind where you’re concerned, I cannot see your face.

You died to me so long ago, the guillotine tripped by me.
A ghost of painful yesterday,  is all you’ll ever be.
