My life
When wandering through this life
one must ask themself,
Does my love wander aimlessy
or does my heart sit selfishly
on a shelf,
collecting the dust of dither?
Remind me to appease now and again
it's for your own safety.
Wouldn't want to hurt you
have you seen my scars?
I've walked through that dark valley
I've wailed at the moon on hot
desert floors that freeze my bones.
I've screamed at my own image
only to fall upon my own deaf ears.
But I've seen love hiding
deep inside, like a child
waiting for me to count to ten and run
but the game is older than man
and taxing upon my soul.
So beat to your own drum if you like
it's your life, hell,
it's my life.
