memory space

MEMORY SPACE.
Sometimes I worry that the memory space in my head
Might run out, and to make space for the new,
The old memories may get deleted.
Like the memory of how we used to hug each other
So tight, whenever we had to say goodbye.
And the scent of your shirts, so big on me, in which
I would wrap myself. Your favorite color, the sound
Of your voice, the feel of your hand in mine.
How we thought we could never survive,
If we were separated from each other.
The silly new words we made up to declare
Our undying devotion and love. The way it felt
To be silly teenagers so very much in love. But if I were
To run out of memory space, I wish that
All the painful memories would be replaced
By the happy ones that need space, and then, there would be
More than enough room to store your smiles.
