Moving Bones
I don't believe in moving bones
it's not smart
and I can't understand why you'd even want to
Digging up the dirt is bad enough
and it seeps into the pores
that red clay, the last layer of soil
There's scraping and and straining
and sweat in the dark
when digging up bones
a hole is left behind
one that is so easy to fall into
and on the other side a heaping
heavy mound of raw material
to suffocate the green grass beneath
Moving earth and digging up bones
it's not wise
they smash and shatter
those crackling bones
and i wish you wouldn't
it's dead
and buried
and gone from sight
let it be
