I Need You In My Life

I Need You In My Life

We often search and wonder,
as ships do for the wind
of which course we're taking,
And how our journey'll end.
And 'though we wish our passage,
was calm and trouble free,
we are but tiny minnions,
At the mercy of the sea.
For 'tis the sea of life we must sail,
and our course must be steady 'n' true,
As the squalls and tempests around us,
Batter bodies and souls black and blue.
And amidst all lifes trials and turmoils,
Heartaches, woundings and strife,
When I sailed lifes troubled waters,
I found I needed you in my life.
For every rough passage I sailed,
And for every rough sea I crossed,
There like a welcoming beacon,
You stood, and I knew I was not lost.
And into your welcoming harbour,
Upon seas, becalmed, I wait,
For your hand held there to guide me,
When I needed you most in my life.
